This term, our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure that your child comes to school in a PE kit that is suitable for colder weather. Please also make sure that long hair is tied back on these days and any jewellery is removed.
Times tables will be a big focus this year with the Year 4 Times Tables Check being administered for the first time in June 2021. Please encourage your children to practise their times tables on Times Tables Rockstars. The children have their log in details stuck in the front of their reading diary.
Spelling tests will be carried out every Monday. New spellings will be handed out every Tuesday once I have taught the children the new rule or pattern for that week. Please help your child to learn their spellings at home.
Reading regularly is paramount as reading is a transferable skill across all areas of the curriculum. It is really important that your child is reading for at least 80 minutes each week so that they are improving their fluency and comprehension skills and consolidating what has been taught in class. Diaries will be checked everyday so that I can keep a tally of how many minutes your child has read for each day ready to enter the school reading competition.
