Please find all photos on the Class Photos page now.

I just want to say a big thank you for all of your continual support and your emails, photo updates and phone calls. Thank you to each and every one of you who has continued to complete some or all of the home learning activities with your child.

I miss all the children terribly and hope that you are able to enjoy some family time during this strange period of lockdown.

As workplaces start to open again and external pressures start to reappear, please know I am just at the end of an email, phone or zoom call, as is Mrs Tookey. If we can help at all please do not hesitate to contact us.

We wish you all the best of health and safety at this time.

Very best wishes,

Mrs Leathers and Mrs Tookey

Mattie has learnt to ride his new bike that he got for his birthday, whilst being in lockdown. Also he and his sister have made 'Smile' cards to send to a local care-home to cheer up the residents who haven't been able to see anyone during this time. What a lovely idea Mattie! Well done :)

Laci loves her trampolining and has made a trampolining mood board!

She and her brother, Brody, have also started a fundraising mission to raise money for Colchester School of Gymnastics so that the gym is able to stay open when we come out of lockdown. It is a running fundraiser. They will run as much as they can from now up until it reopens for sponsorship (and to win prizes). Laci and Brody have done 2.5 miles and are going to run every day! The sponsorship link is . If anyone wanted to sponsor them they would need to put Laci and Brody in the comments so it counts to their total.

Well done Lace and Brody!!

Please send in you book recommendations and reviews.

William has helped his dad cut Alresford playing field this week! Well done William. Hope it wasn't too much hard work!

I just want to say a massive well done to Laci, her family and Miss Smith who took part in a charity fundraiser for St Helena's Hospice through Running Colchester. They all ran 5km in fancy dress in their gardens to try to collectively reach 1000km and £1,000 all indoors or in gardens. Laci also ran 2.62miles on the Sunday with her family in their garden. The challenge ended on Sunday evening and more than 1000 miles rather than kms were logged and over £7km raised! That's amazing!
If there is something you have been doing (other than school work) please let me know and send pictures! I love hearing about all your achievements :)

Dear Parents/Carers,

During this very difficult time Alresford Primary School are committed to ensuring that your child is still learning as much as possible and endeavour to do our absolute best to keep this happening.

I have prepared an overview of the learning I would like the children to complete over the next week. This can be found on the Year 4 Home Learning page along with the resources. I will edit this every week. Below I will add any websites I feel may be useful and a table of fun activities you can do with your children whilst at home (as well as the school work.)

If I need to communicate with you during this time it will be by MarvellousMe or email.  My email address is, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Seren Leathers

In D&T we have been using our knowledge of existing products to design a functional and appealing product for a particular purpose and audience.

The children were given the brief to design a bag, for either Smiggle or a sports team, which could hold a 1.3kg weight for 30 seconds...see a few of our creations below.

Next the children will explore ways that they can strengthen their bags, so that they can hold a 2.5kg weight for 30 seconds.

This is a polite reminder that spelling diaries and reading diaries should be in school on all days.

Our spellings are given out on a Monday, and we count reading minutes on a Friday.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
